About SnowLoadByZip.com

Free ASCE 7-22 ground snow load data for every US ZIP code, powered by ASCE and USDA data.

SnowLoadByZip.com is a free tool that shows ASCE 7-22 ground snow load values for any US ZIP code. We combine data from authoritative engineering sources to give you a clear picture of structural snow load requirements in your area.

Our Data Sources

ASCE 7-22 (Ground Snow Load)

The American Society of Civil Engineers publishes ground snow load polygons based on 50-year return period analysis. We use the official ArcGIS service data to map snow load values (in PSF) to every US county.

USDA/Census ZIP-County Bridge

The USDA Economic Research Service provides a ZIP code to county crosswalk file (derived from US Census data). We use this to map each ZIP code to its primary county and corresponding snow load value.

Important Limitations

Our snow load values are design loads from ASCE 7-22, representing the 50-year return period ground snow load. This is not actual snowfall — it is the load used for structural engineering design. Areas designated as Case Study zones have highly variable snow loads due to elevation, terrain, or microclimate effects and require a site-specific analysis by a licensed engineer. Elevation-dependent areas within a county may also have different values than shown. Always consult a structural engineer for actual building design.
